The Higher Regional Court of Koblenz – Eyad A. case. Unofficial Translations
The IIIM is pleased to provide the unofficial English and Arabic translations of the Judgment of the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz in the Eyad A. case. This judgement, issued on 24 February 2021 and made final on 20 April 2022, is an important resource for everyone who followed these landmark crimes against humanity case.
The IIIM team has produced these translations, following consultations with Syrian civil society about ways to further facilitate their engagement with justice processes. As capacity allows, the IIIM will work to deliver similar translations for cases in which it provided assistance to the relevant jurisdiction.
The Higher Regional Court of Koblenz – Anwar R. case. Unofficial Translations
The IIIM is pleased to provide the unofficial English and Arabic translations of the Judgment of the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz in the Anwar R. case, issued in January 2022 by the Koblenz Higher Regional Court in Germany. The investigation that led to this judgment was supported by information and evidence provided by the IIIM.
When the ruling was publicly disclosed after it became legally binding in 2024, the IIIM committed to making it more accessible, especially for Syrian victims and survivors, by translating the original German judgment into both Arabic and English.
These translations aim to support a broader understanding of this milestone case and its significance for justice and accountability for core international crimes committed in Syria since 2011.
